Electrical Bus Plug Buyers

A bus plug is one of the few pieces of electrical equipment where the used market is often the only market. Plug-in units are built to fit one manufacturer's busway line and nothing else, so when a line goes out of production the plants still running it cannot buy a replacement new at any price. They buy used or they re-engineer the entire distribution system. That is why a dusty plug pulled off a wall in a closing plant is frequently worth many times what a scrap yard will weigh it in for.

The obstacle for most sellers is not the value, it is the labor. The equipment is bolted to a ceiling twenty feet up, it is heavy, it is awkward, and getting it down safely means a lift, a couple of qualified people and somebody who knows how the joint hardware comes apart. Brokers who quote a price and then wait for you to deliver the equipment crated on a dock have quietly moved that entire cost onto your side of the ledger.

We do it the other way around, and that is the whole reason this company exists. We send our own crew, we take the run down, we crate it, and we pay you before it leaves. You are never asked to test a single unit, megger anything or certify condition. Send photographs of the nameplates and one wide shot of the run and you will usually have a firm number the same day.

What you should not do first

• Do not call a scrap yard before you know the resale value. Scrap is the floor on this equipment, not the price.
• Do not cut the busway into short lengths to make it easier to handle. Continuous sections with the joint hardware attached are worth substantially more.
• Do not throw away the nameplates or scrub the covers clean. That plate identifies the line and proves the rating.
• Do not pay an electrical contractor to remove it before you have our number, because removal is already included in what we do.
• Do not leave the units sitting out in the weather for another season. Standing water inside a plug is the one condition problem that genuinely destroys value.

The terms are the same on every purchase

Payment before removal. Our crew and our rigging. Our freight. No testing and no certification asked of you at any point. Those four things do not change with the size of the job, the age of the equipment or how far away you happen to be.

How the removal actually goes

We walk the run with you or from your photographs, agree the sequence, and schedule around your production. On the day, our crew confirms isolation with your electrician or ours, pulls the plugs first, then unbolts the duct from the hangers in the longest sections the building will let us carry out. Everything is crated or palletised on site and loaded onto our own truck.

Nothing in that process requires anything from you beyond site access and a point of contact. You do not supply labor, lifts, crating, a forklift or a carrier, and you do not sign off on the condition of any unit.
