Electrical Bus Duct Buyers

Bus duct is the backbone the plugs hang on, and it is bought on a different logic. A plug is worth what it is worth because it fits one specific line. A duct run is worth a combination of that same line compatibility and its raw copper or aluminum content, which on a long feeder run in copper is considerable on its own.

That combination is why length and completeness matter so much here. A forty foot run of plug-in duct with its joint stacks, hangers, elbows and end closure still attached can be re-installed by the next owner. The same run cut into six pieces with the hardware discarded is metal. We buy either one, but the first pays substantially better, which makes calling before anybody starts cutting the single most valuable thing a seller can do.

Removal is the part sellers underestimate. Duct is typically suspended well overhead, frequently above active production equipment, and taking it down in re-usable lengths is a matter of sequencing rather than force. Our crews do this as their regular work. We arrive with our own lifts and rigging, we work around your shutdown window, and the freight is on our ticket.

How we value a duct run

• Amp rating, and whether the bus is copper or aluminum.
• Total continuous footage, and how much survives as long sections.
• Manufacturer and busway line, which determines re-usability.
• Whether the joint stacks, hangers and fittings are still with it.
• Indoor versus outdoor service, and any evidence of water intrusion.
• Whether the matching plugs are coming with the run.

Payment before removal. Our crew and our rigging. Our freight. No testing and no certification asked of you at any point. Those four things do not change with the size of the job, the age of the equipment or how far away you happen to be.

How the removal actually goes

We walk the run with you or from your photographs, agree the sequence, and schedule around your production. On the day, our crew confirms isolation with your electrician or ours, pulls the plugs first, then unbolts the duct from the hangers in the longest sections the building will let us carry out. Everything is crated or palletised on site and loaded onto our own truck.

Nothing in that process requires anything from you beyond site access and a point of contact. You do not supply labor, lifts, crating, a forklift or a carrier, and you do not sign off on the condition of any unit.
