What we look for in scrap bus duct & plugs
Some material genuinely is scrap. Busway that has been through a fire, plugs with burned stabs and melted blocks, sections crushed by a collapsed roof, gear that sat in standing water for a season. We buy that too, and we price it as what it is.
Scrap grade material is valued on recovered conductor: the copper or aluminum bus inside, plus the steel enclosure weight. That is a real number and often a better one than a seller expects, because high amperage busway carries a great deal of copper. What it is not is resale money, and any buyer who quotes you resale prices for fire damaged gear is going to renegotiate when the truck arrives.
The reason to be straight about this is trust. We would rather tell you on the phone that your run is recovery material and pay you a fair recovery number than write a big offer we intend to walk back on the loading dock. If some of your material is resale grade and some is scrap, we will split it out and show you both.
